ASAD - 6

GHalib is now known to everybody. Even to those who have no interest in Shayari. But he did not enjoy the same recognition during his lifetime. In fact he was often ridiculed for writing incomprehensible poetry. In his time people were still under the influence of Shayar's like "'Mir' Taqi Mir" and "Mirza Sauda".
And this is how they taunted him
zaban-e-'Mir' samajhe, zaban-e-"Mirza" samajhe
magar inaka kehana, na ye samjhe na KHuda samajhe :-)
GHalib's retort is equally entertaining
wo puchhate hai, ki 'GHalib' kya hai
koi batalaye hame, ki ham batalaye kya !
- Abhay.
ASAD _also_ stands for "A Sher A Day" !
